Retrofitting meets Sustainability - OptEEmAL presented at Sustainable Places Conference in Aix-Les-Bains, France

24.07.2018 – Project partner United Technologies Research Centre Ireland (UTRC-I) presented OptEEmAL in a poster session at Sustainable Places 2018 - the annual conference on innovative construction, energy-efficient building and smart grid technologies.

On June 28th and 29th, UTRC-I provided an overview of the project progress covering methodology, tools, interoperability and automation of retrofit scenario generation and evaluation. Further, UTRC-I made a poster presentation of the new H2020 funded project RECO2ST in which UTRC-I is contributing to a Residential Retrofit assessment platform.

About 50 people attended the conference and its poster sessions. There was a strong interest in OptEEmAL innovations, in particular regarding the automation from Building Information Modelling (BIM) to the simulation module and District Performance Indicator (DPI) calculation, Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) catalogue with equipment data, automated scenario generation and evaluation. The audience was impressed by these features and their integration within the OptEEmAL Platform for District Energy-Efficient Retrofitting Design. Besides, UTRC-I had an exchange with partners from OptEEmAL’s sister project “newTREND”, who organised a full day workshop at the event.

With its participation in the Sustainable Places Conference 2018, OptEEmAL demonstrated how it contributes to promote energy-efficiency in buildings and hence make them more sustainable.
